Pilgrims travelling to Hajj should be free from all debts and can support their family during their absence. He should be financially capable of taking the tour. It is one of the five pillars of Islam alongside Shahadah(faith), Salah(prayer), Zakat(charity), Sawm (fasting during Ramadan), and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah). Those Muslim who fulfill these conditions are called mustati and financially capable of performing Hajj is call istita'ah.

Pilgrimage is taken on the 8th to 12th day some cases 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. Hajj is associated with the life of Islamic Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, of the 7 century, but Mecca significance is traced back to the time of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam.
